“…At the time data were collected, a call was made for a patient revolution, where patients play a leading role in their care (Richards, Coulter, & Wicks, 2015). Since that time, there has been increasing evidence for the influence of patient participation interventions on patient outcomes, with a systematic review of 16 studies showing encouraging results for the impact of patient-centered interventions on fall rates and appropriate medication use (Rossiter, Levett-Jones, & Pich, 2020), yet these interventions have yet to be integrated into practice (Sharma et al, 2018).
