“…Most of the patients in this study were educated as 74.4% of RA and 92.3% of SLE patients had at least primary school education. This is similar to the findings of the study by Akintayo et al ,[ 12 ] in which 96% of the patients had at least primary education. This may be attributable to the studies being tertiary hospital-based and the higher likelihood of educated people to seek health care in such facilities.…”

“…RA is mainly considered as a joint disease, but it has the capacity to inflict multiple organs because of the abnormal systemic immune response. About 17.8–47.5% of patients present the extra-articular manifestations [ 12 , 13 ], among which the ocular surface manifestation is the most common [ 14 , 15 ], which seriously affects the quality of life [ 16 ]. Earlier studies have shown that synovitis is the pathological basis for joint injury in RA [ 5 ].…”

“… 23 ) In patients with rheumatoid arthritis, it has been reported that ocular manifestations, including cataract, were associated with a significant negative impact on PCS. 24 ) In acute anterior uveitis, which is often associated with the HLA-B27 gene in patients with or without spondyloarthritis, the physical domain of SF-36 significantly deteriorated over 5 years. 25 ) Cataract could impair physical function in patients with musculoskeletal disorders; indeed, lower PCS scores were observed in SED patients with cataract than in those without cataract.…”
