The Impact of Macrokinetic Effects on the Heck‐Matsuda Reaction Using in‐situ Generated and Immobilized Pd‐Catalysts

Abstract: The present study shows the influence of stirring speed on the kinetics of the Heck‐Matsuda reaction when using in‐situ generated immobilized catalysts and olefins. The stirring speed not only influences the reaction kinetics of the actual reaction, but also the particle size distribution and the degree of immobilization of the palladium clusters. In addition to the stirring speed, the electronic nature of the olefin used in each case also plays a decisive role on the particle size distribution and thus the ca… Show more

“…Our previous studies on this type of reaction indicate that the olefins utilized in the reaction directly influence the formation of the catalytically active Pd colloids and their immobilization. However, the influence of the olefins used in the reaction on the one hand on the in‐situ formation of the palladium particles and on the other hand on their immobilization on a suitable support material has been scarcely investigated so far [18,20] …”

“…However, the influence of the olefins used in the reaction on the one hand on the in-situ formation of the palladium particles and on the other hand on their immobiliza-tion on a suitable support material has been scarcely investigated so far. [18,20] Stimulated by these findings and being convinced that a deeper understanding of all relevant parameter and mechanisms is helpful for an improved process understanding and therefore, process development and optimization, we decided to embark on fundamental kinetic studies towards the reactivity patterns of selected olefins.…”
