The Impact of Geometry Errors on the Motion Transmission of Dual Path Gearing

Abstract: The article presents the numerical analysis of the impact of geometry errors on the motion transmission of dual path gearing. The strength calculations of the elements of the drive were made by means of the Finite Elements Method (FEM). The calculations were made for the two-dimensional models of the dual path gearing. In the first place, the drive of the error-free (theoretical) geometry was tested. Next, the modifications of the selected teeth were introduced to the calculation models. The aim of the modific… Show more

“…The results show that the system transmission performance can be greatly improved after modification. Pacana and Pacana 20 established a dynamic model of power two-branch gear transmission system, described the system geometric error with the tooth profile modification, and finally studied the influence of geometric error on its dynamic characteristics. Yang et al 21 proposed a dynamic excitation calculation method of herringbone gear pair considering actual contact state to study the influence of modification parameters on time-varying meshing stiffness and friction excitation under 3D modification.…”

“…Several theoretical studies on gear stresses have been conducted where pitch and profile errors where combined, [10][11][12][13][14][15] while others focused solely on pitch errors. [16][17][18] Many of these studies have treated spur gears. [10][11][12][13][16][17][18] Li 11,12 performed a series of studies based on a finite element method (FEM) analysis of a gear set under static conditions.…”
