“…Our view is that in Japan, it is necessary to clarify the functioning of parenting styles as explained by Baumrind (1971). For instance, the authoritative parenting style among the three parenting styles (authoritative, authoritarian and permissive) as measured by the PAQ (Buri, 1991) based on the theory of Baumrind (1971), had a positive influence on Japanese children's subsequent mental health (Uji, Sakamoto, Adachi, & Kitamura, 2014). The results suggest that authoritative parenting styles have a significant influence on good outcomes such as mental health among Japanese participants as well as those from other countries.…”
