The impact of asthma on quality of life and anxiety: a pilot study

Abstract: Asthmatics have worse indicators of quality of life and anxiety, even though the symptoms of asthma are under clinical control. Moreover, the inverse correlation between the quality of life and the average anxiety scores in the asthma group suggests that the pulmonary inflammatory process of asthma may be related to the pathophysiology of emotional commitment in that group.

“…The air pollution trigger was also found to be associated with anxiety in another study [36], suggesting those with comorbid anxiety might be more susceptible to exacerbation when exposed to air pollution/irritants. Moreover, anxiety and depression were reported to be associated with lower HRQoL among asthmatic patients [15,30,32,36]. Mental illness constitutes a substantial component of asthma disease manifestation.…”

“…Thus, foot care may be considered as a key objective in patients with allergic asthma due to the increased epidemiology prevalence of musculoskeletal pain in various anatomical areas with a great health impact in patients who suffer from this disease, which may be recognized as a global problem for the public health system according to Barrick et al, who evaluated a sample of 91,642 children with allergic diseases associated with bone problems and severe asthma [27]. In addition, various researchers have concluded the presence of impairment on the QoL in people who suffered from asthma [28,29,30].…”
