The Immunity Protection of Central Nervous System Induced by Pseudorabies Virus DelgI/gE/TK in Mice

Abstract: Based on a variant strain, we constructed a gE/gI/TK-deleted pseudorabies virus (PRV). A total of 18 female mice were randomized to a vaccination group to receive PRV XJ delgE/gI/TK, a vehicle group to receive Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium, and a mock group to confirm the protection of PRV delgE/gI/TK on the central nervous system in mice. Subsequently, the vaccination and vehicle groups were infected with PRV XJ. The mice in the vehicle group showed more severe neurological symptoms and higher viral load… Show more

“…The vaccine demonstrated promising results in preliminary studies conducted in mice, effectively shielding them from the lethal assault of the PRV XJ variant strain. It inhibited the neural damage and inflammation induced by the PRV XJ variant strain, activating innate immunity in the brain and intestinal tract (Xu et al, 2022). The results of this study showed that PRV XJ del gI/gE/ TK vaccine effectively protects piglets from PRV XJ variant strain by activating intestinal immunity and has a strong protective effect.…”

“…Several studies have demonstrated the efficacy of PRV genedeleted vaccines in protecting piglets from variant PRV strains and preventing neurological and respiratory symptoms (Xu et al, 2022;Jiang et al, 2023). However, little research has focused on the effects of PRV on the gut and whether gene-deleted vaccines can counteract these negative effects.…”

“…This results in high fever, increased intracranial pressure, cerebral edema, and eventually coma or death. Pathological manifestations include vacuolar degeneration, neuronophagy, and inflammatory cell infiltration ( Xu et al, 2022 ). With the exception of pigs, almost all mammals infected with PRV develop severe neurological symptoms and die.…”
