Abstract:Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) was discovered in 1982 1 and is able to cause peptic ulcer disease, gastric cancer and mucosal-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma. 2,3 Almost half (44%) of the world's population have H pylori infection. 4 The risk factors of H pylori infection are low socioeconomic status, poor basic hygiene, overcrowding and East Asian ethnicity. 5 Rapid urease test (RUT) and histopathology are well-known endoscopic methods for H pylori testing.
