The hidden danger in Syria: Silent Celiac Disease

Abstract: Celiac disease (CD) is a disorder caused by an aberrant autoimmune response to gluten ingestion in genetically susceptible individuals. Its prevalence nears 1%, and it is not considered typical in the Middle East because of the lack of reports in the Arabic countries.
