Corundum-rich (up to 55 vol.%) felsic dykes formed with albite, ±K-feldspar, ±hercynite and ±biotite-siderophyllite cut the lower crustal rocks exposed in the Ivrea–Verbano Zone (NW Italy). Zircon is an abundant accessory mineral and its investigation through laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma (multi-collector)-mass spectrometer (LA-ICP-(MC)MS) has allowed results to directly constrain the timing of emplacement, as well as petrology and geochemistry of parental melts. Zircons are characterized by very large concentration in rare earth elements (REE), Th, U, Nb and Ta, and negative Eu anomaly. U–Pb analysis points to Norian emplacement ages (223 ± 7 Ma and 224 ± 6 Ma), whereas large positive εHf(t) values (+13 on average) indicate a derivation from depleted to mildly enriched mantle source. The mantle signature and the corundum oversaturation were preserved thanks to limited crustal contamination of the host, high-temperature refractory granulites and mafic intrusives. According to the geochemical data and to the evidence of the development of violent explosions into the conduits, it is proposed that dykes segregated from peraluminous melts produced by exsolution processes affecting volatile-rich differentiates during alkaline magmatism. This work provides robust evidence about the transition of the geochemical affinity of Southern Alps magmatism from orogenic-like to anorogenic during Norian time, linked to a regional uprising of the asthenosphere and change of tectonic regime.

The article is focused on the morphology, trace element composition, U‐Pb and Lu‐Hf systems in zircon in high‐Mg diorite of the Chelyabinsk granitoid massif. Our analytical studies of the U‐Pb and Lu‐Hf isotope systems and the trace element composition were performed using mass spectrometry (MS) with inductively coupled plasma (ICP) and laser ablation (LA) of samples. It is established that the zircon formed at the last stages of crystallization of the basic melt under subsolidus conditions at low (600–700 °C) temperatures, which distinguishes it from the zircon of most other high‐Mg rocks of the intermediate composition. The internal structure of the zircon and the concentration of trace elements are locally altered under the influence of a fluid, which led to a partial disruption of the U‐Pb and Lu‐Hf isotopic systems. For the least altered areas in the zircon crystals, the age of crystallization of the parent high‐Mg melt is 362±2 Ma, which coincides with the age estimated from the geological data. Considering the isotope composition of Hf in the zircon and the trace element concentrations, there are grounds to relate the formation of high‐Mg diorite in the Chelyabinsk granitoid massif with a mixed mantle‐crustal source.

Субвулканические андезитовые порфириты глазуновской свиты Курского блока Восточной Сарматии являются высоко калиевыми с сильным фракционированием REE ((La/Yb)n = 33–49) и отсутствием Eu аномалии (Eu/Eu*=0,89–0,99). На диаграммах с нормированием к примитивной мантии они характеризуются обогащением LILE и деплетированием Nb, Ti, и HREE. В андезитовых порфиритах проявлены адакитовые геохимические характеристики, выраженные очень высокими значениями La/Yb и Sr/Y отношений. Вулканиты имеют отрицательные значения εNd(2067) (от – 3,8 до – 4,7). По содержанию первичного изотопного состава гафния выделяются две контрастные группы. Первая с величинами εHf(2067) от + 3,3 до +6,8, вторая с εHf(2067) от -12,7 до -13,3. Предполагается, что адакитовые сигнатуры порфиритов возникли в результате двух-стадийного процесса: 1) ассимиляции коровых пород мантийным расплавом в основании деламинированной коры и 2) кристаллизационной дифференциации базальтовых магм в верхнекоровых магматических камерах. Источником первичных магм, вероятнее всего, являлся водосодержащий гранатовый перидотит, плавление которого происходило при давлениях превышающих 1,5 ГПа и температурах более 1000°С. Наиболее вероятными интрузивными комагматами андезитовых порфиритов являются породы габбро-диорит-гранодиоритовой ассоциации стойло-николаевского комплекса.
