The Herefordshire pomona, containing coloured figures and descriptions of the most esteemed kinds of apples and pears

Abstract: Description.-Fruit : above medium size, three inches and a quarter long and twx> and a half wide ; obovate, uneven and undulating in its outline. Skin : greenish yellow, thickly dotted with russet, and with a tinge of red next the sun. Eye : small and open, level with the surface. Stalk : half an inch long, stout, inserted without depression. Flesh : half melting, very juicy, with a rich sprightly flavour, and a musky perfume. This is an excellent Pear, and is in season in September. The tree makes a good pyra… Show more
