Similia Similibus Curantur is also called the law of similars. That is, when a drug produces pathological/pathogenic symptoms in healthy individual means, the same drug can relieve similar kinds of symptoms in individuals with the disease. The biological, pharmacological and toxicological action of capsaicin alkaloids is a perfect example to explain the Similia Similibus Curantur principle. Most of the drugs in homoeopathic materia medica contain toxicological, pharmacological, drug-proving, and traditional use-related symptoms and indications. Abnormal sensations and symptoms of the disease are caused by the involvement of a specific receptor or molecular pathway and gene functions. These receptors or molecules may be stimulated or suppressed by environmental, natural or artificial agents. In such conditions, the administration of specific homoeopathic medicine having a similar kind of affinity towards the particular receptors or molecules involved in the disease process leads to modulation of such receptor or molecular pathways (e.g., desensitization, sensitization, inhibition). These kinds of actions cause the betterment of symptoms or curative effects. So “Similia similibus curanter” can be understood as a similar receptor or molecular pathway involved in both drug molecules biological/ pharmacological and toxicological action and disease pathogenesis". The selection of medicine is by comparing the similarity between the receptor or molecular pathway in disease pathogenesis and drug pathogenesis. To avoid unwanted aggravations or side effects while using mother tinctures or solutions, administer them less than their physiological dose. The theory of the pharmacological basis of Similia Similia Curantur creates a rational method to apply this Similia Principle. Based on this theory, there is a possibility of discovering Novel drugs in the future that acts and gives a cure in similia similibus curantur way.

Wie bereits von Hahnemann beobachtet wurde, können homöopathische Verschlimmerungen auch während der wiederholten Anwendung von Q-Potenzen auftreten, und dies speziell bei sensibleren Patienten. In diesen Fällen empfiehlt Hahnemann eine Verringerung der Dosierung durch Verdünnung des homöo-pathischen Mittels. Diese in Wasser hergestellten Verdünnungen sollten täglich durch den Patienten erneuert werden, was in der heutigen Zeit keine praktikable Lösung darstellt. Die Autoren berichten von ihren in Brasilien gemachten Erfahrungen mit Verdünnungen von Q-Potenzen, die mittels Alkohol in Apotheken stabilisiert wurden, um die Anwendung und den Transport der Arznei zu vereinfachen.Schlüsselwörter Q-Potenzen, LM-Potenzen, homöopathi-sche Verschlimmerung, alkoholische Verdünnungen. The authors report their experience in Brazil with Q potencies dilutions which were stabilized with alcohol in the pharmacy, making their use and transportation easier for the patient.

A discussion on the scientificity of the theory of vital principle as a relativistic phenomenon and the concept of minimum dose

The cell theory, gene theory, evolution, homeostasis, and laws of thermodynamics are the five fundamental principles of biology. The vital principle collectively denotes these five basic principles. However, the energy or information on its own is insufficient to make life. Energy, information and preservation of information are necessary for the existence of life. The biological process of adaptation to environmental influences also helps the preservation process. All these provide evidence that the vital principle is relativistic. Similarly, Dr. Hahnemann advises that the smallest possible dose itself is sufficient to cure the disease. However, Hahnemann has not defined what exactly this ‘smallest possible dose’ or ‘minimum dose’ means, due to which there is ambiguity among homoeopaths. In his earlier periods of medical practice, he used mother tinctures and mother solutions to treat the patient. He encountered severe aggravations, which compelled him to dilute the medicine to avoid aggravation. However, low- and ultra-high dilutions of homoeopathic medicine have been observed to act on the five fundamental biological principles within the closed system (for example, epigenetic modification). Relating and using these well-established scientific principles help us to create better scientific homoeopathy. Thus, the vital principle is observed to have a relativistic phenomenon and the concept of minimum dose has been observed to be correlated with the principles of biology.
