“…The USA and UK achieved the highest h -index in the field of methaemoglobinaemia research, signifying a higher quality of research than other countries. The scientific research has shown an enormous interest in the h -index, as shown by the high number of publications on this subject (Wykes et al 2013 ; Therattil et al 2014 ; Zhang et al 2015 ). The h -index allows differentiation of the scientific productivity of a researcher with objectivity and accordingly may play an important role when making decisions about awarding prizes, fund allocation, and promotion (Costas and Bordons 2007 ).…”

“…Owing to the low correlation coefficient of the two variables, it seems that increasing the number of authors does not have a significant effect on the altmetric score of these articles (Table 5). However, some studies have shown that as the number of authors of an article increases, so does the number of citations to an article and, consequently, its scientific impact (Wykes et al , 2013). However, despite the significant relationship between the two co-authorship indices and the impact of the articles, but because of the weak correlation coefficient between these two indicators, it is necessary to examine the lack of significant effect of scientific cooperation on the altmetric performance of articles in a separate study. The results of the correlation test show a statistically significant and weak relationship between the open access to journals and the impact of their articles (Table 6).…”

“…Academics are witnessing an ever more rapid transformation of the system in which they work (Etzkowitz and Leydesdorff 1998;Gibbons et al 1994). Among the changes are the introduction of New Public Management (De Boer et al 2007), the entrepreneurial university (Slaughter and Leslie 1997), and the rise of quantitative performance indicators (Fernández-Ríos and Rodríguez-Díaz 2014;Wykes et al 2013). Furthermore, the trend towards the projectification of research management processes and structures (Packendorff and Lindgren 2014;Torka 2018) has also increased the proportion of short-term contracts (Waaijer 2015;Torka 2009;Kreckel and Zimmermann 2014).…”
