The Gismo Two-Millimeter Deep Field in Goods-N

Abstract: We present deep continuum observations using the GISMO camera at a wavelength of 2 mm centered on the Hubble Deep Field in the GOODS-N field. These are the first deep field observations ever obtained at this wavelength. The 1σ sensitivity in the innermost ∼4 of the 7 diameter map is ∼135 μJy beam −1 , a factor of three higher in flux/beam sensitivity than the deepest available SCUBA 850 μm observations, and almost a factor of four higher in flux/beam sensitivity than the combined MAMBO/AzTEC 1.2 mm observation… Show more

“…Out of the 186 4 850  s μm sources given in Table 5, 38 had previously been found (with 850 μm SCUBA observations, Wang et al 2004 andPope et al 2005; 1.1/1.2 mm AzTEC and MAMBO observations, Penner et al 2011; and 2 mm GISMO observations, Staguhn et al 2014). We summarize these previous results in Table 7.…”

“…Therefore, the catalog extends previous galaxy population studies by ACT (Marriage et al 2011;Marsden et al 2014;Datta et al 2019), SPT Mocanu et al 2013) and Planck (Cañameras et al 2015;Planck Collaboration et al 2016). It complements deeper, degree-scale millimeter surveys (e.g., Austermann et al 2009Austermann et al , 2010Staguhn et al 2014) and submillimeter surveys (e.g, Negrello et al 2010;Bussmann et al 2013;Wardlow et al 2013;Nayyeri et al 2016;Asboth et al 2016;Nettke et al 2017). In addition to the galaxy catalogs, all maps, including the equatorial 277 GHz dataset for the first time, are publicly available.…”

“…At shorter sub-millimeter/far-infrared wavelengths, the Herschel Space Observatory has undertaken the most comprehensive wide-field source surveys probing the DSFG population (e.g., Oliver et al 2012;Viero et al 2014;Valiante et al 2016) with additional contributions from the Submillimetre Common-User Bolometer Array 2 Holland et al 2013). Complementing these 100+ deg 2 surveys, there have been a host of smaller, deeper surveys by AzTEC at the JCMT and ASTE (e.g., Austermann et al 2009Austermann et al , 2010, by the Max-Planck Millimeter Bolometer Array (MAMBO) and the Goddard-IRAM Superconducting 2-mm Observer (GISMO) on the IRAM 30 m telescope (e.g., Bertoldi et al 2007;Lindner et al 2011;Staguhn et al 2014), by Bolocam at the CSO (e.g., Laurent et al 2005), and the Large APEX BOlometer CAmera (LABOCA) on the APEX telescope (e.g., Greve et al 2010).…”

“…At 2 mm (not shown in Fig. 1), only 5 of the of the 12 sources found by Staguhn et al (2014) have known redshifts. Our model predicts a median redshift of 2.9 when assuming a flux cut of 0.24 mJy 1 , while they found 2.9 ± 0.4.…”
