The genome sequence of the Festoon, Apoda limacodes (Hufnagel, 1766)

Abstract: We present a genome assembly from an individual male Apoda limacodes (the Festoon; Arthropoda; Insecta; Lepidoptera; Limacodidae). The genome sequence is 800 megabases in span. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 25 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the assembled Z sex chromosome. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled and is 15.4 kilobases in length.

“…The samples were dry-pinned specimens collected by light trapping from the wild and were deposited in the Insect Collection of Department of Entomology, South China Agricultural University, Guangzhou, China. In addition, we used the publicly available genome data for the type species of Limacodidae, Apoda limacodes (Hufnagel) (Broad, 2023). We then added DNA barcode (a 658 bp fragment of the 5 0 end of cytochrome oxidase c subunit I, COI) sequences of 114 global samples representing 99 species from most of the above same 67 limacodid genera (Table S3).…”
