The gas kinematics in the Mrk 533 nucleus and circumnuclear region: a gaseous outflow

Abstract: We present an analysis of 3D spectra of Mrk 533, observed with the integral‐field spectrograph MultiPupil Fiber Spectrograph (MPFS) and using the Fabry‐Perot Interferometer (FPI) of the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SAO RAS) 6‐m telescope. We found emissions of gas from the active type 2 Seyfert nucleus in the centre and also from the H ii regions in a spiral structure and a circumnuclear region. The gas kinematics shows regular non‐circular motions in the wide range of … Show more

“…An alternative explanation of the observed gas kinematics is a jet–clouds interaction similar to that observed in Mrk 3 (Capetti et al 1999) or Mrk 533 (Smirnova et al 2007). However, this mechanism is unlikely for Mrk 334.…”

“…The preliminary data reduction steps were described earlier (Moiseev, Valdés & Chavushyan 2004; Smirnova et al 2007). Reduction yields a ‘data cube’, where each pixel in the 16 × 16 arcsec 2 field has a spectrum associated with it.…”

“…Amram et al (2003) have published the Hα velocity field of this main member of the compact group HCG96 and mentioned an asymmetry in the different sides of its rotation curve. We present a careful analysis of the velocity fields in the different emission lines and found numerous peculiarities in the gas motion (Smirnova et al, 2006b): (i) The streaming motions along the bar were found from a 'tilted-ring' velocity analysis. (ii) The map of radial motions in the disc shows the gas inflow along the Northern arm (5 < r < 15 ).…”

“…The goal of our tests is not to model the stellar populations of the host galaxies, which can be complicated by the presence of star forming regions (see e.g. Smirnova et al, 2007;Popović et al, 2009). On the contrary, we study under which conditions an aged stellar population can still be recovered in presence of an overlapped AGN continuum.…”
