The fuzzy logic controllers synthesis method in the vector control system of the wind turbine doubly-fed induction generator

Abstract: The article is devoted to the improvement of control systems for wind turbines by developing fuzzy controllers with higher transient characteristics and low computational costs of identification in comparison with the applied PI controllers. Based on the self-organization method, a fuzzy speed controller of the doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) of a wind turbine was synthesized, which uses a zero-order Sugeno fuzzy inference system and is made in the form of a block-oriented Wiener model. This regulator is… Show more

“…Moreover, in problems when an object has several input variables, it is advisable to apply a fuzzy logic inference due to simplified synthesis and control algorithms implemented. On its basis, there are developed irrigation control systems [15,16], pumping facilities powered from autonomous power plants using renewable energy sources [17][18][19][20][21][22], control systems of wind turbines electromechanical equipment [23], urban water supply [24], cascades of multi-pump systems [25], as well as the electric drive of a separate pumping unit [26].…”

“…The introduction of this intelligent controller in the currents control loops allows to replace the standard PIs used in Fig. 3 in order to get good dynamic performances [24][25][26][27] and to ensure the robustness of the control.…”

“…A system with the ܰ ி = 2, ܰ = 3, ܰ ௭ = 5 structure showed the best agreement between the model and the plant. The next most accurate model, the Hammerstein one (2, Table 2), has an agreement indicator that is 1.3% lower (4). Given that the number of parameters of the linear block for Structures 1 and 2 is identical, it is advisable to use Model 1 during practical implementation.…”

“…For predicting purposes, it is necessary to have a model that describes the battery charging/discharging processes with sufficient accuracy. In addition to direct simulation of the operation of a rechargeable battery-based energy storage system for the application as part of the BMS, such a model is also used in the control of generating and converting equipment of power plants that use renewable energy sources [3,4], and electrical loads connected to battery packs, in particular, electric motors [5]. That makes it possible to improve the quality and reliability of operation.…”
