The Fusaric Acid Derivative qy17 Inhibits Staphylococcus haemolyticus by Disrupting Biofilm Formation and the Stress Response via Altered Gene Expression

Abstract: Staphylococcus haemolyticus (S. haemolyticus) is the second most commonly isolated coagulase-negative staphylococcus (CoNS) in patients with hospital-acquired infections. It can produce phenol-soluble modulin (PSM) toxins and form biofilms. Compared with the wealth of information on Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis, very little is known about S. haemolyticus. There is an urgent need to find an effective preparation to combat the harm caused by S. haemolyticus infection. Chinese herbs have b… Show more

“…Human β -actin and HeLa or A549 cells, 1.5 h after transfection, were used as an internal reference and control, respectively. The reaction process was carried out as follows: 95°C for 30 s followed by 40 cycles of 95°C for 10 s, 60°C for 30 s, and 72°C for 30 s. The 2 −ΔΔCt statistical method was used for data analysis (Wang et al, 2022a ; Wang C. et al, 2022 ). The primers used are shown in Supplementary Table 2 .…”

“…Thus, these bacteria are the main targets of many new anti-MRSA agents. [8][9][10][11][12][13] Additionally, biofilms are an obstacle for antibiotic resistance treatment of MRSA bacteria inside the biofilm, which is why MRSA strains are difficult clear from the infection site. Based on this, many novel anti-MRSA agents have been investigated.…”
