The function of small RNA in Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Abstract: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, the main conditional pathogen causing nosocomial infection, is a gram-negative bacterium with the largest genome among the known bacteria. The main reasons why Pseudomonas aeruginosa is prone to drug-resistant strains in clinic are: the drug-resistant genes in its genome and the drug resistance easily induced by single antibiotic treatment. With the development of high-throughput sequencing technology and bioinformatics, the functions of various small RNAs (sRNA) in Pseudomonas aerugino… Show more

“…Several other sRNAs have been described as pleiotropic modulators of bacterial virulence, such as P. aeruginosa RsmZ, ReaL, ErsA, and SrbA (Liu et al 2022); Staphylococcus aureus RsaA and Teg49 (Menard et al 2022); and E. coli and Salmonella enterica McaS, OmrA, and OxyS (Mitra and Mukhopadhyay 2023). Therefore, whilst most of these sRNAs positively modulate bacterial virulence and biofilm formation, RIT11b was downregulated when B. cenocepacia was infecting C. elegans and its overexpression reduced bacterial virulence and biofilm formation.…”
