“…Dilution is defined as the organic-carbon-free sedimentation rate, 6 which is mainly terrigenous detrital matter for lacustrine basins. 25,28 The major element contents of Fe and K can be used to trace the influence of the terrigenous detrital matter. 58 The (Fe + K) contents in the Es 3 L shale are generally greater than that of the Es 3 U shale, indicating that the terrigenous detrital matter amounts are much greater in the Es 3…”

“…Tyson (1995) and Bohacs et al (2011) proposed that the “dilution” is also a key factor controlling organic matter enrichment. On the basis of the above models, some scholars studied the organic matter enrichment conditions in the shales in the Yangtze Platform, , northern South China Sea, and Jianghan Baisn with respect to paleoproductivity, redox conditions, and dilution. Massive shale oil resources were recently discovered in many SLRBs in China, such as the Paleogene shale oil plays in the Dongpu Depression, Bonan Sag, and Dongying Depression , in the Bohai Bay Basin; Biyang Depression in the Nanxiang Basin, Jianghan Basin; , and the Permian shale oil plays in the Jimusar Sag in the Junggar Basin. , However, studies on the main factors controlling organic matter enrichment in shales of the SLRBs are still lacking. Recently, some research started focusing on SLRB shales.…”

“…The concentration of vanadium (V) is higher than nickel (Ni) in most of the analysed shale samples with V/(V + Ni) ratio in the range of 0.48–0.83, indicating that the shales were mainly deposited under anoxic conditions (Table ; Figure ). A high Fe 2+ /Fe 3+ (Table ; Figure ) values represent another strong support of the anoxic water column during the sedimentary period (Li et al, ).…”

“…The Yingen‐Ejinaqi Basin in western Inner Mongolia is a large‐scale Mesozoic‐Cenozoic rift‐related basin that is bordered by the Yabulai and Langshan Mountains at the southeast and the Beishan Mountain at the west in northern China. It is one of the rift basins developed in western and northern North China during the Early Cretaceous with alluvial sediments interbedded alkaline volcanic rocks accumulated (Li, Lu, Xue, Zhang, & Wu, ). The basin covering an area of 12.3 × 10 4 km 2 is developed on the Precambrian crystalline block and the Paleozoic fold basement.…”
