The Foetal Membranes and Fluids in the Egyptian Buffalo

Abstract: Summary The foetal membranes and fluids were studied in 167 gravid buffalo uteri, covering the period from the 38th day of gestation until two weeks before parturition. The weight of the foetal membranes, and the size of the allantochorion, amniotic vesicle and umbilical cord showed a progressive increase during gestation. The changes occurring in the amniotic plaques and in the physical properties of the foetal fluids are described. The volume of the allantoic fluid increased continually during gestation.
