Abstract: Rationale: Pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration (PKAN), also called Hallervorden-Spatz syndrome, is a rare autosomal recessive disease associated with brain iron accumulation and characterized by progressive dystonia, dementia, and dysarthria symptoms.
