The first 50 live births after autologous oocyte vitrification in France

Abstract: According to our results, newborn health parameters of children conceived in our center by micromanipulation using vitrified/warmed autologous oocytes seem not to be different from children born after micromanipulation on freshly recovered oocytes.

“…Currently it is estimated that around 20 MII oocytes are required per child [14][15][16], which means that only a minority of these patients may benefit from this option. Therefore, IVM matured oocytes in this way may serve as an add-on method to ovarian tissue freezing, especially in young patients and in those centers choosing to excise one whole ovary for fertility preservation, but IVM in this manner cannot be recommended as a single method of fertility preservation.…”

“…There are limited studies on the obstetrical and perinatal outcomes of babies born after planned OC. The limited amount of evidence available conclude that neonatal outcomes are similar between fresh and cryopreserved oocytes in infertile patients [31,[44][45][46][47].…”

“…Compared with fresh oocytes (i.e., those used immediately for in vitro fertilization), previously vitrified oocytes have similar fertilization and ongoing pregnancy rates [128]. The limited studies on obstetrical and perinatal outcomes from pregnancies resulting from OC are reassuring, with no increase in congenital anomalies compared with naturally conceived pregnancies and no difference in maternal/perinatal complications compared with pregnancies resulting from fresh oocytes [97,131,132].…”
