The Final Stop of the Photography Adventure, Mobile Photography

Abstract

The adventure of photography started with the desire of people to be able to see what they saw again. It has been possible to record, view and reproduce the image with technological developments. In this context, photography is accepted as a technological tool. Photography, which is a tool for collecting memories, has contributed to the formation of social memory with its documenting feature over time. The development of photography in this context has led to improvements in production, accessibility, storage and sharing. Thus, photography evolved from the darkroom to analog cameras and then to digital. While digital machines are developing more and more today, information technologies have also turned the mobile phone into a camera. In particular, the development of optical technologies has increased the interest in cameras integrated into mobile phones. However, the digitalization of societies has had a direct impact on the formation of mobile photography. This study aims to explain the definition, scope, technological context and usage areas of mobile photography by referring to the stages of photography in its transformation into mass media. In this study, which is a literature review, the past, present and future of mobile photography with its technological context are discussed chronologically.
