The Fermilab g-2 experiment

Abstract: The g-2 experiment at Fermilab is due to start taking data in 2017. The experiment will make new measurements of the muon anomalous moment, a  , and its electric dipole moment, d . Compared to its predecessor, E821 at Brookhaven National Laboratory, the new experiment aims to improve its precision on a  approximately fourfold and the sensitivity to d  by over an order of magnitude. The g-2 experiment will provide vital information on the existing discrepancy between measurement and the Standard Model predi… Show more

“…The muon EDM has been studied parasitically in magnetic storage rings nominally used to measure (g-2) for the muon. An improved value for the muon EDM is expected from the latest (g-2) running at Fermilab [23]. An electrostatic storage ring is also being discussed [24] for measuring the proton EDM with statistical sensitivity that could be 1000 time better than the present neutron sensitivity.…”
