“…Hyde, while Luo et al (2004) reported fungi from Dianchi Lake. Many new taxa have since been described including several new genera (Inderbitzin 2000, Jeewon et al 2003, Cai et al 2005, Cai & Hyde 2007, Wongsawas et al 2009a, b , Hu et al 2012, Liu et al 2015, Su et al 2015, 2016a, b, Luo et al 2016, 2017, Wang et al 2016, Zhu et al 2016. “…Dendryphiella can be differentiated by the presence of nodulose conidiophores and conidiogeneous cells with pores surrounded by a thickened and darkened wall, which are absent in Neodrendryphiella . Other genera of the Dothideomycetes, although accommodated in different orders or families with a similar conidiogenous apparatus are Dendryphion (Toluraceae, Pleosporales) (Crous et al 2014, Crous et al 2015), Dendryphiopsis (Kirschsteiniotheliaceae, Kirschsteiniotheliales) (Su et al 2016, HernĂĄndez-Restrepo et al 2017) and Paradendryphiella (Pleosporaceae, Pleosporales) (Woudenberg et al 2013). However, the genus Diplococcium in Leotiomycetes also shows similar asexual propagules (Shenoy et al 2010, HernĂĄndez-Restrepo et al 2017), which complicates the classification of these fungi based exclusively on morphological features.…”

“…Dendryphion is characterized by usually apically branched conidiophores, terminal and intercalary, tretic conidiogenous cells and simple or branched, cylindrical or obclavate, sometimes cheiroid conidia formed in chains (Ellis 1971, Ellis 1976, Seifert et al 2011, Su et al 2016). In addition, phylogenetic study based on DNA sequence data places Dendryphion in Torulaceae (Crous et al 2015, Su et al 2016, Li et al 2017, while Dendryphiella formed a distinct clade in Dictyosporiaceae (Boonmee et al 2016). …”
