The Extract Obtained from Two Radish Cultivars (Raphanus sativus L. and Raphanus sativus L. var. radikula) Using Liquid Nitrogen Is Germination of Sterile Oats (Avena sterilis Subsp. sterilis) and Allelopathic Effect on Seedling Growth

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to determine the allelopathic effects of extracts obtained by using liquid nitrogen from the plant of Antep radish (Raphanus sativus L.) and little radish (Raphanus sativus L. var. radikula) on germina-the most significant effects were observed in the results of Antep radish root experiments. In this experiment group, the inhibition rate of root and stem length of weed seeds at a concentration of 16% were 86% and 82%, respectively, when compared to the control. In addition, the ger… Show more

“…The shoot elongation was stimulated by the root and mixed extracts of the garden radish at concentrations less than 8 g 100 ml-1. The results show parallels to previous studies in which allelochemicals at low concentrations promoted plant growth (Narwal 1994;Santos 2002;De Moraes Gomes et al 2017;Sisek et al 2019). However, it was found that stem extract had a negative effect on shoot elongation in all concentrations.…”

“…While all the extract applications of little radish at the highest concentration significantly decreased the shoot elongation compared to the control, the effect of garden radish root and mixed extract was found statistically insignificant. Many studies have illustrated that aqueous extracts from different tissues of a plant show different allelopathic effects on the test plants (Turk & Tawaha 2002;Sodaeizadeh et al 2009;Sisek et al 2019). Similarly, the current study has shown that the allelopathic response of the barnyard grass to radish plants varies according to the plant tissue from which the extract is prepared.…”

“…The highest percentage of reduction of johnsongrass density was achieved in the WG+M treatment (69.1%), while the lowest percentage of reduction was observed in the RG (40.2%), and mulch (42.9) treatments (Table 1). Some radish cultivars reduced johnsongrass density by 64.1% and 68.3% due to their ITCs contents (Sisek 2020), while black polyethylene reduced the density of johnsongrass by 28.3-56.1% (Hidayat et al, 2013;Mehmood et al, 2018).…”
