This paper reviews recent empirical accounts on the emergence of post-bureaucratic patterns of organizing and examines these contributions against established theory on organizations. The paper reports that while the distinctive features of Weber's bureaucratic type remain unaffected, two trends in contemporary organizing warrant examining convergence in motivation. First, large multidivisional organizations have adopted mutation practices in which the functional structure is overlaid at the level of semi-autonomous project and network organizations. Second, project-based organizations and variants of network forms of organization offer alternatives to the Weberian type by attracting executives to new organizational motivations. The paper defines three conditions for evaluating future novelty claims on post-bureaucratic organizations depending on the variations in two types of motivations for changeknowledge transfer and learning. These conditions are related to 1) identifying the exact organizational configurations through which the multidivisional enterprise is mutating; 2) linking change to motivations different from Weberian intentionality and transaction costs economizing logic; and, 3) theorizing new organizational transformations as impermanent organizational entities in which instability is a defining characteristic of adaptation though learning.

Healthcare Information Systems (HISs) in hospitals have become an influential factor to provide cooperation among physicians in sharing healthcare information. Many cooperative HIS models were proposed. However, they focused on management of the patients' information and do not address the issue of improving the physicians' skills due to many factors. In this study, a mixed data collection approach is used first to determine the current levels of cooperation among physicians with regard to the sharing of information and skills in the patient treatment within selected hospitals in Kurdistan region of Iraq. The second, it is first used to determine factors affecting such cooperation and second to determine how the activities of Research and Development (R&D) units affect this cooperation. The results of this study showed that the cooperation among physicians in sharing information and skills is poor due to the six important factors. The study also founded that there is positive relation between R&D unit activities and cooperation among physicians in sharing patient information and their skills. The study findings provided that the development of cooperative HISs environment should be adapted based on an open, autonomic, flexible and cooperative model to support exchange of productive information among physicians in real time in order to improve their skills by acquiring new knowledge from each other within same and between different hospitals.

The new product development (NPD) process is composed by several phases, from concept to final production rump-up, and for each phase, it is now widely recognized that innovators can find external supporting services as design, prototyping, engineering, etc. Companies offering these technical and scientific services (TSS) are in fact more and more diffused. Literature has conducted some explorative attempts to study more in depth how these service companies are organized and managed by assuming a sort of internal perspective and analyzing the main companies' choices in terms of business model elements. In a similar vein, we deeply study the organizational and managerial features for a sample of technical service Italian companies. The empirical study has been conducted by a twofold aim: (i) to search for TSS companies that support the entire process of new product development and/or, conversely, that provide services to a smaller part of the innovation process or only on few stages in order to identify clusters of companies; (ii) once identified clusters, to study if they show differences in terms of some organisational and managerial features. The analysis of the gathered data has actually allowed to identify some typical profiles of TSS companies in which the elements of the business model take a particular and coherent combination.
