Abstract:The theft of the firstborn’s birth right by a sibling is relived and re-enacted in individual and group analysis. This experience can be interpreted as a continuation of Juliet Mitchell’s theory of sibling trauma and the law of the mother, as expressed in several Bible stories and demonstrated here by clinical examples.
