IntroductionMuseums use digital resources to provide online services to the public, and a “digital museuming” boom has started. The mechanism of online museum visiting and its impact on willingness to visit on site has become an important issue of widespread concern. Therefore, based on the theory of presence and cognitive-emotional-behavioral theory, this paper introduces perceived value and cultural identity as mediating variables to explore the influence of the digital museuming experience on the willingness to visit on site from the audience’s perspective.MethodQuestionnaires were distributed, using the snowball sampling method, and 429 valid questionnaires were returned.ResultsThe empirical test presents the following results: (1) virtual reality technology multi-dimensionally expands the digital museuming experience; (2) immersion, interaction and available experience promote willingness to visit on-site; (3) hedonic experience in the process of digital museuming cannot be ignored; and (4) perceived value and cultural identity play a mediating role.DiscussionUser experience of visiting virtual museums, perceived value and cultural identity influence user willingness to visit museums in the field, but perceived value does not enhance the user’s cultural identity, maybe due to the inability of the online experience to increase the depth of the experience.

Los museos han venido implementando tecnologías vanguardistas con el fin de crear entornos interactivos que atraigan más visitantes y que los conviertan en sujetos más activos en la transferencia de conocimiento. Debido a esto, los museos tradicionales están evolucionando hacia espacios educativos y turísticos mediante nuevas estrategias pedagógicas que permitan una mayor interacción entre la oferta cultural de estas instituciones con la ciudadanía. El objetivo de esta investigación fue realizar un diagnóstico sobre la evolución y las tendencias de investigación de la interactividad de los museos a través de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación ―TIC―. El diseño metodológico consistió en la utilización de indicadores bibliométricos para identificar las tendencias y evolución del campo de conocimiento en la temática de interactividad de los museos a través de nuevas tecnologías; para esto se realizó un análisis dividido en dos etapas: obtención de información (base de datos y ecuación de búsqueda) y obtención de indicadores bibliométricos (cantidad, calidad y estructura). Se analizaron un total de 771 publicaciones obtenidas de Scopus entre 1905-2017. Entre los principales resultados se observa que existe una tendencia creciente en la producción científica sobre la temática centrada principalmente en investigaciones sobre tecnologías vanguardistas tales como tecnología holográfica, realidad aumentada e interacción humano-robot, que hacen de los museos espacios más interactivos en la transferencia de conocimiento. Asimismo, se puede concluir que gracias al creciente uso y avance de las TIC, ha sido más fácil la implementación de estas tecnologías dentro de los museos; las cuales han favorecido la construcción de entornos más reales y han aumentado el número de visitantes en estas instituciones culturales.

Digital museums play a crucial role in facilitating users' access to and exploration of digital cultural heritage resources. However, exploring the factors influencing user engagement with these digital museums from a user experience perspective remains essential. This study evaluates the factors driving user continuous behavioral intention towards the digital museum of Beijing’s central axis, integrating the new task-technology fit (TTF) and the new unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) models, and introducing perceived enjoyment, design aesthetics, and perceived cultural value as additional variables. Analyzing survey data (n = 377) utilizing structural equation modeling (SEM), the study identifies the following key findings: (1) the task and technology characteristics of digital museums significantly impact the TTF; (2) performance expectancy, effort expectancy, design aesthetics, perceived enjoyment, and perceived cultural value all positively impact user continuous behavioral intention; (3) the technological characteristics of digital museums were observed to positively impact users' effort expectancy; but (4) the TTF and social influence did not have no significant impact the user continuous behavioral intention. These findings offer valuable insights into the factors driving users' continuous behavioral intention to use digital museums of cultural heritage, offering practical guidance for future development and optimization of these digital museums, and highlighting specific implications and suggestions for enhancing the user experience.
