THE EXCRETION OF β‐AMINOISOBUTYRIC ACID FOLLOWING THYMINE AND DIHYDROTHYMINE ADMINISTRATION TO MAN

Abstract: SUMMARY A study of the excretion of β‐aminoisobutyric acid (BAIB) after oral administration of thymine and of dihydrothymine (DHT) to a series of human subjects including normal, splenectomised and leukemic individuals, suggests that the spleen may influence this excretion. The leukemic patients studied differ from normal in their lower excretion of BAIB after DHT ingestion.
