The evolution of shrinkage strain of pet-mortar composite eco-materials

Abstract: Concretes and mortars are subjected to several kinds of shrinkage strains which represent the volumic variations resulting from the cement hydration and are governed by various physical and chemical aspects. The use of polyethylene terephthalate PET plastic wastes which are available in quantity and within low cost in our country yields a very important economic and environmental impact in the construction industry. Thus, we are interested to investigate the effect of PET volumetric additive amounts for cement… Show more

“…However, other phenomena such as concrete shrinkage were often the cause of cracking, loss of prestressing, redistribution of stresses, and even, more rarely, the collapse of the structure [10]. This dimensional variation depends on several parameters such as the composition of the concrete, the quality of its constituents, the size of the elements as well as the external storage conditions [10].…”

“…Considerable research and development work on plastic waste modification for cement mortar and concrete has been conducted in various countries. As a result, many effective plastic waste modification systems for cement mortar have been used in various applications in the construction industry for its many excellent properties (Latroch, 2018;Chaib, 2017;Ozbakkalogulu, 2016;Sharma, 2016;de Brito, 2013;Batayneh, 2007;Choi, 2005;Rebeiz, 1996). These researches generally investigate the effect of incorporating PET waste on the properties of concrete and cementitious mortar.…”
