Objective: Although contraception methods are an important factor affecting sexual life, no literature has been recorded aboutthe contraceptive methods used and the sexual life of thalassemia patients. The aim of this study is to document the effects ofand preferences of contraception methods used in the sexual lives of patients with thalassemia. Methods: The descriptive and cross-sectional study took place in Northern Cyprus at a Thalassemia Center in a State Hospital.The study sample consisted of 100 thalassemia major or intermedia patients. The data includes descriptive characteristics, thepreference of contraception methods used by men and women and Sexual Quality of Life Questionnaires. Results: Participants learned about contraception methods mostly from social media/internet, and 58.3% of the women and46.2% of the men did not use any contraception method within the last year. Women’s sexual quality of life score was 70.3±19.9and men’s Sexual Quality of Life score was 78.9±20.6. Women having knowledge of contraception methods had higher scoresthan man (p<0.05). Male patients not having physical exercise had sexual quality of life scores significantly lower than those whofollowed exercise programs (p<0.05). Conclusions: Results indicate a significant need to include family planning and sexual health subjects that specifically addressthalassemia patients. Objectives: The main aim of the study is to compare marital adjustment and sexuality in schizophrenia patients. Methods: The sample of the study consists of 48 outpatients with a diagnosis of schizophrenia according to DSM V by the Department of Psychiatry, Bursa Uludağ University School of Medicine and 48 healthy volunteers. Sociodemographic Information Form, Marriage Adjustment Scale (MAS), Arizona Sexual Experiences Scale (ASEX)-(Female and Male form) are applied to both groups. Results: A significant difference was observed between individuals with schizophrenia and healthy group according to sexual dysfunction. The incidence of sexual dysfunction in schizophrenia patients is high. While the average values of the individuals' MAS were higher in the healthy group, no significant difference was found between the groups according to the MAS total score. Conclusions: There is no difference in terms of compliance with marriage between the healthy group and schizophrenic patients, but there is a difference in terms of sexual function. Data from this study suggest that schizophrenia may not be a factor in marital adjustment but may be a factor that may cause sexual dysfunction. All schizophrenic patients in our study used drugs. It cannot be ruled out that drug use may cause sexual dysfunction.

Background/aim: This study was designed to develop a Behçet's disease (BD) symptom assessment scale based on the theory of unpleasant symptoms, which deals with understanding symptom experiences in a disease. Materials and methods: The BD Symptom Assessment Scale has two sections: the factors influencing symptoms and the situations influenced by symptoms. Both of these sections were developed through an initial item pool, and expert opinions were consulted during a pilot test performed with 30 patients with BD. We then tested the validity and reliability of this scale on 218 different patients with BD fulfilling the ISG criteria. Finally, we scored this scale. Results: The validity and reliability study of the first section found that the scale had favorable fit indices (X²= 525.86, X²/ SD = 3.15, GFI = 0.90, CFI = 0.89, IFI = 0.89), constituting three dimensions and 20 items. The validity and reliability study of the second section found that the scale had favorable fit indices (X² = 579.14, X² / SD = 3.48, GFI = 0.91, CFI = 0.89, IFI = 0.89) and constituted three dimensions and 20 items. Conclusion: This novel symptom assessment scale for BD is a valid and reliable tool for evaluating patients with BD.
