Photo‐induced reduction of hexachloroplatinic acid from PtCl 6 2− to Pt 0 via UV irradiation has been demonstrated to prepare colloids in water/ethanol solution,43–45 on titania or in organic‐inorganic silica templates 46, 47. In our sample the absence of chlorine traces in EDX spectrum, that would be visible with a peak at 2.6 keV if un‐decomposed precursor species involved in the photochemical reduction mechanism remained (such as PtCl 6 2− or PtCl 4 2− ), reveals that the process can even occur in the absence of the liquid phase or of the inorganic particle templates.…”
