The evaluation of appropriate office layout design with MCDM techniques

Abstract: Office layout design is pertinent in terms of ergonomics to obtain a sustainable workspace. There are five workplace evaluation parameters to be considered, namely successiveness, work within the limits of biological ability, work within the limits of sustainable work performance, work within the social limits, and work fulfilling psychological expectations and individual satisfaction of being able to exercise all abilities. In ergonomics, job satisfaction is an essential matter for an employee to perform a ta… Show more

“…Selecting the best facility layout design involves interconnections between a variety of departments in the company; thus, decision makers have to address many challenges when evaluating alternative layouts [1]. In the facility layout selection process, numerous attributes need to be considered, making this an MCDM issue [15]. There are two groups of criteria that impact facility layout design: Internal criteria depict characterizations inside the boundaries of the organization, and external criteria include factors such as water distribution, fuel distribution systems, and the pattern of traffic flows, etc.…”

“…Develop the total dominance matrix. The concept of modified discordance matrix was established by Hwang and Masud [65], as shown in Equation (15). In 2012, Ke and Chen [55] proposed the modified total matrix in the ELECTRE method, and they are presented in Equations ( 15) and (16).…”

“…The RULA method is selected to assess and analyze the upper body postures of workers, while the AHP -one of the MCDM methods -is utilized to prioritize the risky posture that requires immediate correction considering various criteria. In this case, MCDM is able to make an effective solution as it avoids some confusing critical factors through criteria weight computation (Eraslan et al, 2020). This research, in practical terms, presents more appropriate corrective actions towards risky work postures in the company.…”
