The Etiology of Breast Cancer

Abstract: The etiology of breast cancer is attributed to a complex interaction between various modifiable and non-modifiable factors. This etiology is determined by genetics, environmental, nutritional, hormonal, and heritable elements that contribute to the development of this disease. Risk factors include prior history of breast cancer, positive family history, obesity, tall stature, smoking, alcohol consumption, early menarche, late menopause, sedentary lifestyle, nulliparity and hormone replacement therapy. Factors … Show more

“…The high incidence of breast cancer in Iraq can be attributed to many factors, such as limited awareness and education about the disease, limited access to screening and early detection services, and inadequate treatment options. Breast cancer can arise from a complex interplay of multiple risk factors, including heritable components, such as a family history of the disease, as well as environmental and lifestyle factors, such as obesity, smoking, sedentary behaviour, alcohol consumption, and hormonal therapy 24 . As a crucial step towards decreasing the number of cases and mortality rates of breast cancer, the present study aimed to develop a simple, cost-effective and rapid molecular method for identifying individuals at risk of developing breast cancer.…”

“…[115] The etiology of breast cancer is attributed to a complex interaction between genetics, hormonal, nutritional, and environmental factors and potential risk considerations including obesity, alcohol consumption, smoking, late menopause, positive family history, and hormone therapy. [116] Regarding the vaccines produced in microalgae, Hernández-Ramírez et al [24] designed a vaccine candidate composed of epitopes from several TAAs (HER2, WT1, MUC1, and MAM-A). The multiepitopic protein, called BCB, was produced in Schizochytrium sp.…”
