Abstract:This article addresses some elements of the work of Giovanni Berlinguer in the field of social medicine, namely the relationship between science and society, on one hand, and bioethics, on the other. Berlinguer’s work in these domains centers around the right to health for the popular classes and the concerns of bioethics. My aim is to highlight Berlinguer’s effort to connect medical and bioethical issues within his own political vision of a more just society.
