The Epidemic of Thyroid Cancer in the United States: The Role of Endocrinologists and Ultrasounds

Abstract: Background: The incidence of thyroid cancer has increased at an alarming rate in both men and women in the United States. The etiology of this epidemic is unclear. We tested the hypothesis that a significant component of this epidemic is due to increased detection of occult disease.
