“…Based on the comparison with palynological assemblages of the Reiflinger Kalke (Grossreifling, Northern Calcareous Alps) and the occurrence of a Longobardian bivalve Daonella lommeli there (Mostler and Scheuring, 1974), Scheuring assigned a Longobardian (late Ladinian) age to the assemblages from Meride (Scheuring, 1978;Stockar et al, 2012). In the Global Boundary Stratotype Section and Point for the base of the Carnian (Prati di Stuores/ Stuores Wiesen, Italy), Vallasporites ignacii (Enzonalasporites ignacii Scibiorski et al, 2022) and Patinasporites densus in association with Enzonalasporites vigens are regarded as indicative for the base of the Carnian (Mietto et al, 2012).
