A finales del siglo XV Jehan Henry escribió su Livre de vie active de l’Hôtel Dieu de Paris y se lo dedicó a las monjas-enfermeras que atendían el hospital. Los historiadores de la Enfermería suelen afirmar que una miniatura de este manuscrito ilustra cómo cuidaron las enfermeras a sus pacientes, pero este trabajo cuestiona el significado médico de esta imagen y la naturaleza feminizada de la enfermería medieval. El análisis de las relaciones teóricas y prácticas entre teología y medicina, y el de las reglas de las órdenes monásticas demuestran que enfermeros y enfermeras no prestaron atención sanitaria. En este trabajo pruebo que los enfermeros de los hospitales medievales encarnaban al Buen Samaritano y emplearon el cuidado al cuerpo como una excusa para ocuparse del alma de los pacientes.

“…A recent study based on a sample of 2,981 employees from diverse companies reveals that occupational status moderates the relationship between age and resistance to change, such that the effect is more positive for blue collar workers (occupied with routine standardized production tasks) than for white collar workers (mainly in executive and management positions) (Kunze et al , 2013). This differential attitude towards change depends not only on the characteristics of age and work position, but also on the aspect of psychological domination in Plato's Republic, in order to interpret and orchestrate the ways of approaching, influencing, managing and aligning the human factor (Jorgenson, 2018). Specific arguments will have better results depending on the element, which prevails and defines the character of each individual (Bauman, 2018).…”

PurposeThis paper aims at identifying critical components of leading change through relations of relevance with platonic philosophy. During this process, well-known aspects of change leadership are detected, but interpreted differently. Based on this relevance, a seven-stage tripartite model is proposed, in order to facilitate change implementation in the business world.Design/methodology/approachContemporary trends in leading change are reviewed and enriched with platonic insights. A synthetic analysis is attempted, in which philosopher stochasticity and discernment validates modern synergetic and anthropocentric approaches to the field of change leadership, featuring key behavioral and perceptual characteristics, emerging during change process.FindingsAs the process of change is highly dependent on human behavior, Plato grants an enriched approach of its origins and causal causes. Therefore, key change factors are not only discussed in the light of his worldview, but also upgraded through the distillation of applicable ideas, summarized in the proposed three phase model.Practical implicationsThe proposed tripartite model of leading change can function as a powerful guide of designing and successfully implement organizational change.Originality/valueThe screening of specific insights from platonic works in leading change conveys an alternative, more “poetic”, yet effectively flexible attitude endorsed and incorporated into a potentially applicable model.

In Plato’s later ethics, the key challenge to one’s personal progress is unorderly thoughts and motions of soul. This disorder should be corrected by recognising and repeating the orderly thoughts and motions of cosmic gods. This paper examines the theoretical assumptions of Plato’s later ethics. A closer analysis of the Timaeus reveals a peculiar conception of mathematics, according to which numbers and their relations not only reveal facts about the reality, but also express values and ideals. By learning mathematics human beings come to know the everyday ethical life of cosmic gods and become like them.
