The elimination of stressed induced light leakage for in-plane-switching LCD

Abstract: As the mainstream display mode of LCD, IPS is overwhelmingly used in many fields of flat displays. However, due to the stress sensitivity of glass, the stressed light leakage is a bottleneck for achieving perfect dark state performance. The conventional scheme of using a compensation polarizer outside the cell has no effect on this light leakage. Although many studies have been conducted to overcome this limitation, the proposed methods have limited effects. Our research team has proposed a novel light leakage… Show more

“…In addition, the height difference formed by the organic film is combined with the laminated color resistance technology to eliminate the Photo Spacer (PS) film layer, reduce production cost and improve production capacity. At the same time, the organic film layer tiled at the periphery of the display area can significantly improve the light leakage 6 caused by uneven substrate stress.…”

“…Liquid crystal display (LCD) devices have developed rapidly in recent decades, which has greatly enhanced the information interaction experience of people (Kim and Song 2009;Allen et al 2021;Wang et al 2022). According to the panel type, LCD can be divided into traditional twisted column LCD (TN-LCD), in-plane switching LCD (IPS-LCD) and vertically aligned LCD (VA-LCD), while IPS-LCD and VA-LCD occupy most of the current LCDs (Kim et al 2011).…”
