The Electropolymerization of 2,6‐Diaminopyridine and Its Application as Mercury Ion Selective Electrode

Abstract: A composite graphite (CG) electrode modified with poly(2,6-diaminopyridine) (PDAP) was used as solid state-ion selective electrode for determination of mercury. The electrooxidation of monomer 2, 6 diaminopyridine (DAP) onto CG was accomplished from the 30 mM DAP in 5% H 2 SO 4 and 0.5 M ZnSO 4 . The electrode displayed Nernstian response with slope of 28.4 AE 1 mV decade À1 in concentration range of 1 Â 10 À6 to 1 Â 10 À1 M and in solution of pH 3 -5. The limit of detection for electrode was 3 Â 10 À8 M with … Show more

“…Aoki et al have pioneered the usage of composite pencil graphite (CPG) lead as a working electrode . Ghani's group has been reported a substantial number of articles based on CPG leads (especially 2B pencil) as a substrate for working electrodes in either rod or paste form for electrochemical sensing of various analytes , .…”

“…To enable selective detection of the analyte, the electrode surface of these sensors has been modified with DNA or oligonucleotide based coatings, [13][14][15] functional sol-gel silica films, [16] or dropcast and electropolymerized thin films. [17][18][19] Another interesting materials platform for the fabrication of sensory coatings is polymer brushes. Polymer brushes are dense assemblies of polymer chains that are attached by one chain end to an underlying substrate.…”
