The Electrochemistry Behaviour of Carbon Steel in 55% LiBr Solution with A-Mo Inhibitor

Abstract: The inhibition effects of A-Mo inhibitor on corrosion of carbon steel in 55% LiBr solution were investigated using cyclic potentiodynamic polarization curves EIS experiments, Mott-Schottky analysis, SEM, EDAX and XRD methods. The results revealed that A-Mo inhibitor was capable of inhibiting the corrosion of carbon steel in 55%LiBr solution, exhibiting high inhibition efficiencies around 99.7%. A-Mo inhibitor promoted the formation of a protective passive film composed of Fe, Mo and O elements. The passive fil… Show more

“…Localized and general corrosion are the main two forms of corrosion in the LiBr/H 2 O system similar to that in NaCl, therefore a good inhibition is required which is performed through the addition of corrosion inhibitors. Inorganic inhibitors are widely used to mitigate corrosion rate, for example, cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide, phosphomolybdic acid/SbBr 3 , vanadium‐substituted Keggin heteropoly salt, Na 2 MoO 4 , and Na 2 MoO 4 in presence of organophosphonate complex, B‐Mo‐W complex inhibitor, phosphonic acid‐Na 2 MoO 4 inhibitor, Na 3 PW 12 O 40 , enhanced Na 2 MoO 4 , and Li 2 CrO 4 as inhibitors . Since the absorption‐cooling machines might have different alloys (e.g., Cu, Cu‐based alloys might coexist coupled to carbon steel), inorganic inhibitors might be inappropriate if used alone.…”
