The electoral success of social media losers: a study on the usage and influence of Twitter in times of elections in Paraguay

Abstract: In recent years, social media has become increasingly relevant in democratic decision-making processes, such as referendums or elections. Recent investigations have raised the concern of social media misuse in attempts to manipulate the public opinion and influence results, undermining the foundations of democracy.
