The efficiency of chitosan-graphene oxide composite membranes modified with genipin in fuel cell application

Abstract: The paper reports on the processing of chitosan N-doped reduced graphene oxide (CS/N-rGO) nanocomposite membranes prepared by a facile, dispersion-casting procedure aimed as anion exchange membranes in fuel cells. Genipin (GEN) was used as a crosslinking agent to ameliorate mechanical weakens of nanocomposite membranes, while the N-rGO filler, aside of its role as a mechanical enhancer, is expected to improve the ionic conductivity of membranes. The resulting properties of processed membranes in terms of morph… Show more

“…In stem cell technology, genipin is used to crosslink alginate and chitosan to synthesize microcarriers [ 134 ]. Gorgieva et al [ 135 ] fabricated nanocomposite membranes based on chitosan and genipin as a crosslinker. Du et al [ 136 ] were able to replace glutaraldehyde with genipin to crosslink chitosan for the fabrication of pervaporation membranes for the dehydration of isopropanol.…”

“…In a recent research, chitosan N-RGO nanocomposite anion exchange membranes were prepared by a facile, dispersion-casting procedure in fuel cells. Genipin, which is a water-soluble bifunctional crosslinking reagent, was used in fuel cells to reorganize mechanical weakens of nanocomposite membranes and achieved considerable improvement in terms of efficiency and performance [41].…”
