Objective:Ectopic pregnancy (EP) is the major cause of maternal morbidity and mortalityinthe first trimester of pregnancy. EP can be treated either medical or surgical approches. The purpose of our study wasto predict the treatment choice of tubal EP by usinghematologic parameters which are routinely used in clinical practice.Methods:After retrospectively data evaluation was done from Januaryu 2014 to Deceber 201. we had 153 patients with EP. Patientsadmitted to methotrexate (MTX) therapy was Group-1. Patients performed surgerywas Group-II. All patients’ initial values including white blood cell (WBC), hemoglobin (Hgb), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), neutrophil and lymphocyte, neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet, platelet lymphocyte ratio (PLR), red cell distribution width (RDW), platelet distribution width (PDW) and mean platelet volume (MPV)were recorded and compared between groups.Results:Of 153 EP patients, there were 93 patients in MTX group and 60 patients in surgery group. RDW, MPV were significantly increased in MTX group (p=0.003, p=0.001, p=0.038, respectively). However, no statistically significant difference was observed between the groups in terms of WBC, Hgb, MCV, PLT, PLR, PDW.Conslusion:RDW, MPV values were independently associated with MTX therapy. Hematologic parameters can be helpful in the choice of the EP treatment.

The occurrence of thrombocytopenia in 5% of pregnant women at delivery, described as gestational thrombocytopenia, is well documented. A commonly believed concept is that gestational thrombocytopenia is the result of gradually decreasing platelet counts in all women during pregnancy. The goal of our study was to evaluate the data supporting this concept. To learn what is known about platelet counts throughout normal pregnancies, we systematically reviewed all publications describing platelet counts during pregnancy. We identified 3,039 studies; 46 reporting ≥30 women with normal pregnancies were included in our analyses. The combined mean platelet counts from all studies supported the concept that platelet counts decrease during pregnancy and increase postpartum: first trimester, 251,000/µL (95% CI, 238,000-264,000/µL); second trimester, 238,000/µL (95% CI, 222,000-253,000/µL); third trimester, 224,000/µL (95% CI, 213,000-235,000/µL); delivery, 237,000/µL (95% CI, 209,000-264,000/µL); 4-8 weeks postpartum, 247,000/µL (95% CI, 207,000-287,000/µL). However, individual studies were inconsistent. Eleven longitudinal studies compared platelet counts on the same women at different times during gestation: seven reported a decrease; four reported no change. Ten cross-sectional studies compared platelet counts of different women at different times during gestation: five reported a decrease; five reported no change. Five studies compared platelet counts of pregnant to nonpregnant women: three reported that platelet counts were lower in pregnant women; one reported no difference; one reported that platelet counts were higher in pregnant women. These inconsistent data emphasize the need to accurately describe platelet counts throughout normal pregnancies. Accurate data are essential for evaluating the clinical importance of thrombocytopenia during pregnancy.

Complete blood count (CBC) is one of the most extensively used tests in clinical practice. In order to determine the diagnostic value of the CBC in paraquat (PQ) and organophosphorus (OPPs) poisoning, the CBC indices of PQ- and OPPs-poisoned patients were investigated in this study. A total of 96 PQ poisoning patients, 90 OPPs poisoning patients, and 188 healthy subjects were included in this study. The PQ- and OPPs-poisoned patients were divided into different groups according to their clinical symptoms. All CBC indices were analyzed by Fisher discriminant, partial least-squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA), variance analysis, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC). The discriminant results showed that 87.7% of original grouped cases correctly classified between PQ-poisoned patients, OPPs-poisoned patients, and healthy subjects. The PLS-DA results showed that the important variable order was different in PQ- and OPPs-poisoned patients. Both white blood cell (WBC) and neutrophil (NE) counts were the most important indexes in PQ- and OPPs-poisoned patients. In OPPs poisoning patients, WBC and NE showed statistical differences between the severe poisoning group and the moderate poisoning group. Their areas under the ROC curve (AUC) were 0.673 (WBC) and 0.669 (NE), which were higher than cholinesterase (CHE; AUC 0.326). In conclusion, the CBC indices had a diagnostic value in PQ and OPPs poisoning; WBC and NE were the first responses and had clinical significance in PQ and OPPs poisoning; moreover, they are better than CHE in diagnosing OPPs poisoning.
