The effects of suicidal ideation and constructs of theory of planned behavior on suicidal intention in women: a structural equation modeling approach

Abstract: Background: The Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) is proposed to predict behavioral intention. We conducted this study aimed to investigate the effects of Suicidal Ideation (SI) and constructs of TPB on suicidal intention. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 923 married women selected by multi-stage sampling method from Gilan-e Gharb County, the west part of Iran, in 2018. Data gathering tools were a questionnaire on demographic characteristics, the Beck Scale for Suicidal Ideation, and a fou… Show more

“…In this study, in order to further find the influence path among neuroticism, occupational strain, and psychological symptom, a path structural equation model is established using Amos24.0 software ( Rezapur-Shahkolai et al, 2020 ), as shown in Figure 1 . The model includes two sub-models: sub-model A and sub-model B. Sub-model A is established to investigate the effect of occupational strain on the psychological symptoms of metro drivers, with occupational strain as a predictor variable and psychological symptom as a result variable; Sub-model B is established by adding neuroticism as an intermediary variable to investigate the indirect effect of occupational strain on the psychological symptom of metro drivers.…”

“…Anisi, Majdian, and Mirzamani (2010) performed semantic equivalence by translating and back translating BSSI into Persian language and reported the Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.90 for BSSI in a sample of Iranian soldiers. Another study conducted in Iran reported that the Cronbach's alpha coefficient of BSSI was witnessed to be 0.84 ( Hakim-Shooshtari et al, 2016 ) and 0.95 ( Rezapur-Shahkolai et al, 2020 ). The present study calculated the Cronbach's alpha of BSSI to be 0.74.…”

“…Although a large proportion of accidents are directly related to the attitude and behavior of individuals, the literature shows that despite the importance of this issue, there are ample studies using theories and models of behavior change to investigate risk taking behaviors. (5)(6)(7)(8)(9)(10)(11). It seems that the application of behavioral science to injury prevention has lingered behind other approaches in the history of injury prevention efforts.…”
