In recent years, plastic waste disposal has been perennially popular topics. About six billion tonnes of plastic products are produced annually. This scenario emphasises the serious challenges posed by greenhouse gas emissions and environmental pollution. The desktop plastic extruder machine was designed to convert post-consumer plastic waste for producing plastic filament of 3D printing applications. Selected operation and processing variables for desktop extruder machine, such as temperature and barrel screw rotation speed, are set properly. For the plastic to melt, the temperature was set between 160°C and 260°C, and the rotation speed of the extrusion screw was set into 40 rpm. From the load performance study, it was found that, varying the material loading of 100, 150, and 200 grams, had significantly increased the cycle time by up to 62.50% for both PP and HDPE thermoplastics feedstock. It was also observed that the small change in an angle of the barrel screw had improved the cycle time of molten plastic by increasing the friction between the barrel and the amount of feeding material flowing through the barrel.
