“…The fatality rate of glucose at different concentrations on protoscolices was further examined by increasing the exposure times which demonstrated the effect of time on eliminating the viability of protoscolices. Moreover, our results showed that, at a fixed exposure time, increasing the glucose concentrations led to reduced viability of protoscolices, a finding in agreement with the results of other researchers [ 5 , 14 16 ]. Of course, glucose in some gradually increasing concentrations including 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, and 30% and exposure times such as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 min produced a little effect on protoscolices with no significant difference.…”

“…[29][30][31][32][33] , Trichomonas vaginalis 32 . In vitro effects of this product on protoscoleces have been reported in two study 34,35 . We determined that 0.50 mg/mL concentration of propolis killed all of the protoscoleces at the end of the 3rd minute.…”

“…These can only be removed by surgery or percutaneous aspiration, which does not nullify the risk of disruption of the hydatid cyst, release of protoscoleces into adjacent tissues and dissemination of the infection [99] . An ethanolic Turkish propolis extract showed intense scolicidal activity in vitro ( Table 3, Figure 4), whereas there were no pathological effects in the liver and biliary tree of Wistar rats [100] …”
