This paper discusses the effects of cooled EGR on a turbo charged multi cylinder HCCI engine. A six cylinder, 12 liter, Scania D12 truck engine is modified for HCCI operation. It is fitted with port fuel injection of ethanol and n-heptane and cylinder pressure sensors for closed loop combustion control. The effects of EGR are studied in different operating regimes of the engine. During idle, low speed and no load, the focus is on the effects on combustion efficiency, emissions of unburned hydrocarbons and CO. At intermediate load, run without turbocharging to achieve a well defined experiment, combustion efficiency and emissions from incomplete combustion are still of interest. However the effect on NO X and the thermodynamic effect on thermal efficiency, from a different gas composition, are studied as well. At high load and boost pressure the main focus is NO X emissions and the ability to run high mean effective pressure without exceeding the physical constraints of the engine. In this case the effects of EGR on boost and combustion duration and phasing are of primary interest. It is shown that CO, HC and NO X emissions in most cases all improve with EGR compared to lean burn. Combustion efficiency, which is computed based on exhaust gas analysis, increases with EGR due to lower emissions of CO and HC.

The use of water injection in a Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engine was experimentally investigated. The purpose of this study was to examine whether it is possible to control the ignition timing and slow down the rate of combustion with the use of water injection. The effects of different water flows, air/fuel ratios and inlet pressures were studied for three different fuels, iso-octane, ethanol and natural gas.It is possible to control the ignition timing in a narrow range with the use of water injection, but to the prize of an increase in the already high emissions of unburned hydrocarbons. The CO emission also increased. The NOx emissions, which are very low for HCCI, decreased even more when water injection was applied. The amount of water used was of the magnitude of the fuel flow.

Необходимость математического моделирования и компьютер-ной оптимизации рабочих процессов дизелей становится все более актуальной в связи с ужесточением нормативов на выброс вредных веществ с отработавшими газами (ОГ), требованиями высокой удельной мощности и экономичности. Совершенствование эффек-тивных и экологических показателей двигателей обусловливают внесение изменений в их конструкции, внедрение новых систем, усложнение процессов топливоподачи, наддува, газообмена, регу-лирования. Расчет и многомерную оптимизацию процессов в дизеле осуществляют с помощью различных программных средств матема-тического моделирования. Внутрицилиндровые процессы обычно рассматривают в 0-мерной постановке, т. е. параметры газа рассчи-тывают из системы уравнений баланса массы, сохранения энергии и уравнения состояния. Для расчета скорости тепловыделения исполь-зуют разные модели, в частности в данной работе использована так называемая РК-модель, предложенная в 1990-х годах профессором Н.Ф. Разлейцевым [1] и развиваемая в настоящее время А.С. Ку-лешовым [2-4]. Расчет тепловыделения в камере сгорания дизеля основан на предположении о том, что во время впрыска и развития струй скорость сгорания лимитируется в основном скоростью ис-парения.
